Costa Rica may be the only country in the world where so many different species of birds in so different habitats may be found in such a small area. An area of 51.000 km² houses more than 830 species of birds; more than the entire number of bird species that can be found in the whole of Europe or in Northamerika to the north of Mexico. And some of these you may watch from our finca. Take a pair of binoculars and some time - your patience will be well paid off!

Hint: The best book for bird identification on the market is “Birds of Costa Rica”, by F. Gary Stiles und Alexander F. Skutch, illustrated by Dana Gardner. This book is available in the bookstores of San José. You may use our book for afterwards identification.
