Costa Rica is situated in Central America, with borders to Nicaragua in the north and Panama in the south.
The “Rich Coast”, the meaning of the country´s name, keeps what its name promisses. Framed by the Pacific ocean in the west and the Caribean Sea in the east Costa Rica offers you many beautiful beaches.
In the heart of the country you will find fascinating vulcanos and forests such as moist rain forest, tropical dry semidecidous forest or mountain cloud forest. Their diversity on flora and fauna is just incredible and a paradise for ornithologists and other nature loving people.
Also in other aspects Costa Rica is a remarkable country. Since the late 19th century the long democratic tradition of Costa Rica has only be interupted by two short periods of violence. Although still a largely agricultural country, it has achieved a relatively high standard of living. Tourism is a rapidly expanding industry.
